Visit and tasting
Get ready for a unique food and wine experience at Castrum Wine Relais. At the entrance to Valpolicella Classica, on the top of the highest hill in the village of Castelrotto, lies Castrum Rotari, a military fortress built in the 7th century that over the centuries has hosted important figures who have marked the history of Valpolicella.
After a tour of the boutique winery, the wine tasting is served on the panoramic stage or on the panoramic terrace of the structure. During the tasting, carefully selected gastronomic products will be served, including local cheeses and cured meats, 2 types of Castrum and Sbrisolona mustard, paired with five wines from the winery: Valpolicella Classico, Ripasso, Corvina, Amarone and Recioto.

Nestled in the heart of Valpolicella Classica atop the tallest hill in Castelrotto village, Villa Fraccaroli is a historic 18th-century residence revitalized by the creation of Castrum Relais. The Fraccaroli family, with a winemaking tradition dating back to the 18th century, has transformed their estate into a vibrant destination. The cellar, once used for winemaking, is now the Castrum Wine Bar & Bistrò, while the modern winery operates in the estate's underground space, constructed in the 1980s under Paolo Borghetti's guidance. Villa Fraccaroli, with its rich history and prime location in Valpolicella Classica, produces a range of exceptional wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region. The estate's vineyards are carefully tended, producing wines that embody the traditional craftsmanship passed down through generations of the Fraccaroli family. The Castrum Wine Bar & Bistrò offers visitors a chance to experience these wines in a setting that combines historic charm with modern elegance, all while enjoying breathtaking views of the valley and the peaks of Lessinia.
