A former 12th century fortified house and then a holiday resort for the Princes of Orange, Château Malijay was remodeled in 1778 by the Légier de Montfort family, who gave it this baroque-style architecture and developed the immediate surroundings for wine production. After 1944, the estate became the property of successive unscrupulous buyers who used the castle and abused the vines to the point of exhaustion. When Pierre Deltin became interested in the castle in 2007, he understood that the restructuring would take time and would require a more respectful approach to plants. From 2013, when his daughter Aude joined the estate, she surrounded herself with qualified collaborators who were sensitive to the arguments that were becoming more and more legitimate in light of the climatic conditions. The vines must become more resistant and the cultivation practices must take advantage of nature's skills. Today, the Deltin family works 150 hours of vines spread over the appellation areas Côtes du Rhône, Plan de Dieu, IGP Vaucluse & Méditerranée, Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Ventoux to serve a clientele mainly composed of professionals. The wines produced by Aude are fresh, elegant, deeply characteristic of this generous region which offers gourmet aromas and solid structures to those who know how to reveal them.
