Sarmentero is located in the small Valladolid town of Quintanilla de Arriba, in a Castilian corral near the banks of the Duero River. The property was acquired in 1942 and was previously one of the three mill houses in the town. Later it was used for the production of tiles and animal husbandry, wheat and barley combined with the production of wine. Generations of winegrowers gave us the knowledge and discipline, love and passion to give the wine its best nuances. Amparo Repiso, being the fourth generation of winegrowers and one of the first women winemakers in the area, decided to go one step further and start her own winery in 2004. She started with, literally, a barrel of wine, 225 liters. , which turned out to be the target of praise and good words, which encouraged her to continue making wine and gradually increasing production until today. The first years of production took place in the small adobe corralillos that were part of the country house. Despite our desire to maintain the original structure, in 2013 we completely renovated the winery, erecting a new building that, while more modern, continues to cultivate the soul and passion that our ancestors taught us.
