Casanova's stagecoach changed horses there in June 1790. Returning from the island of Elba, Napoleon 1st stopped there on March 17, 1815. Alexandre Dumas stayed there, invited by the notary Charpillon, deputy mayor of Saint Bris, who was his electoral agent.
