Sobre o anfitrião
Our project together began in 2008, in a small rented warehouse in an industrial estate in Villena. We started with just 5 hectares of vineyards, producing 3 wines. The project was called Vinessens and it is still the official name of the company today. In 2018 we had the opportunity to acquire a beautiful 19th century estate (which was not in its best moment) just at the other end of the municipality of Villena, called Finca Casa Balaguer. Without wasting a second, we took advantage of the opportunity and the new adventure and moved. It was then that we decided to adopt the name Casa Balaguer for the project as a sign of respect for its incredible history and past. Since it was founded around 1850, Casa Balaguer was conceived as a total agricultural organism, where the fertile lands of the Vinalopó River valley were cultivated. In addition to grapes, they also cultivated the rest of the elements of the famous Mediterranean triad: cereal, olive and vine, as well as almond and various fruit trees. This more holistic approach to the agricultural organism left a very important mark on our soul and, together with our love of nature, awakened a strong interest in biodynamic agriculture. We firmly believe in the power of diversity and since we took over the farm, we have re-introduced dozens of local varieties, revived the cultivation of cereal and olive trees, as well as created a home for our animals.
