Visit and tasting
Discover the winemaking tradition and typical flavors of Lake Bolsena by visiting Antica Cantina Leonardi, the oldest winery in Montefiascone, in the heart of Tuscia. The visit begins with a guided tour of the fascinating historic cellar, carved into the volcanic rock of Lake Bolsena. You will experience an immersive journey through the family's history and their love for a territory capable of creating a unique wine production. Marco, the sommelier, will guide you through a tasting of four wines linked to the Lake Bolsena territory and the wine production in Montefiascone: Poggio del Cardinale Est! Est!! Est!! di Montefiascone DOP, Pensiero Lazio IGP Grechetto, Don Carlo Lazio IGP Merlot and Cabernet, Le Muffe Lazio IGP Bianco (molded passito wine). Each glass is paired with the typical and traditional flavors of Tuscia: local cured meats and cheeses for the three dry wines, and tozzetti - a typical biscuit with hazelnuts from the Cimini Mountains - for the molded passito wine.

Antica Cantina Leonardi is a historic, family-run winery located in Montefiascone, overlooking the volcanic landscape of Lake Bolsena. Founded in 1910 and now managed by the fourth generation, the Leonardi family combines deep roots, a passion for the land, and a contemporary vision of winemaking. The ancient cellars carved into the volcanic tuff, cool and naturally humid, provide the perfect environment for aging wines that express the character of the Lazio region: mineral, vibrant, and authentic. Each bottle is the result of a long-standing relationship between people, territory, and tradition. Riccardo and Emanuele - now the heart of the winery - welcome visitors into a world where craftsmanship, history, and hospitality merge. At Antica Cantina Leonardi, each wine is shaped by the volcanic terroir of Montefiascone and over a century of family passion. Our vineyards grow on mineral-rich slopes overlooking Lake Bolsena, where native grape varieties such as Procanico, Roscetto, Malvasia del Lazio, and Trebbiano Giallo thrive alongside selected international varieties like Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay. Our most iconic expression is Est! Est!!! Est!!! di Montefiascone, a historic blend that captures the freshness, luminosity, and flavor of the volcanic soils of Lazio. But our range also includes elegant whites, expressive reds, and limited-production labels that highlight the character of each grape and the identity of the Tuscia region.
