Tenuta di Ghizzano is one of the oldest agricultural companies in the area, but also one of the most innovative. Completely organic and biodynamic, it now has about 280 hectares, of which 18 are vineyards, 15 are olive groves, 100 hectares are cereal crops and 150 are woods and poplar groves. The village of Ghizzano is a small ancient jewel, the first historiographical mention dates back to 988 AD and, with a hilly position, about 200 meters above sea level, it is located on the Tuscan coast, more precisely in that slice of territory called the "Lands of Pisa". The landscape is soft and the climate, mild because mitigated by the sea air, offers temperatures without great extremes or risks of spring frosts. The soil is a very interesting composite, it constitutes one of the most representative formations of the varied and complex pedological panorama of the Lands of Pisa. Formed by marine sediments from the geological era known as “Astiana” (or facies Astiana), it is characterized by more or less calcareous clayey sands, where it is easy to find shell fossils. At Tenuta di Ghizzano, the goal has always been to blend viticulture and agriculture with the surrounding environment in the most natural way possible, embracing biodynamic agriculture since 2006. The estate includes about 280 hectares of land, of which about 18 are dedicated to vineyards, 15 to olive groves, about 100 to arable land, producing mainly wheat and cereals, and finally about 150 hectares to woods and poplar groves. We are very pleased to share our reality with those who come to visit us, tasting our products together and giving the opportunity to explore, with a multisensory experience, the uniqueness of our land, in a place where love for traditions merges with both respect for the environment and with the utmost attention to quality.
